This data collection is part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that evaluate the Bush presidency and solicit opinions on a variety of social issues. Topics covered include the federal budget deficit, the economy, and United States involvement with Japan. Additionally, respondents were asked whether the power held by the United States had changed in the past 20 years and whether it would by the end of the century, whether the United States government promoted democracy around the world, and if the United States protected its economic interests around the world. Respondents' opinions also were sought on the use of federal funds to pay for abortions and the conditions (if any) under which abortions should be legal.
