This special topic poll is part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicit public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. In this poll, respondents were asked their opinions on problems of the elderly, including Social Security benefits, Medicare coverage, high energy costs, loneliness, and poor health. Also included were questions concerning Ronald Reagan's presidential performance, the automobile industries in Japan and the United States, and United States foreign relations with Israel and other allies.
