Summary
This data collection contains survey data gathered in June and July of 1972 from decision-makers at 173 industrial plants in three United States cities: Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia. The survey was carried out by members of the Economic Behavior Program at the University of Michigan's Survey Research Center who personally administered questionnaires to high-level staff members at each company (e.g., president, vice president, general manager, office manager, or public relations director). Respondents were asked to give reasons for the present location of the plant and to outline the advantages and disadvantages of its location. The duration of plant operations, level of production, sales, geographical area served, future expansion, and production problems were all examined as well
