Summary
How do you help an elephant overcome his fear of water? How do you teach a sloth how to navigate a forest? Focusing on two locations, Africa and Costa Rica, this observational documentary series meets animals with some extraordinary survival stories, and follows the people determined to help them get back to a life in the wild. Travelling to rescue centres in both locations, the series encounters characters like Moyo, the baby elephant separated from his mother when he was swept down a river; Mandy the tapir who escaped hunters in Costa Rica; and Kermie and Lockett, the sloths learning about life in the forest thanks to a climbing frame. In South Africa, Lucy meets Manji, an orphaned white rhino who nearly died when he and his mother were attacked by poachers for their horns. Carer Petronel is determined to return him to the African savannah but first he must learn how to survive in the wild. In Costa Rica, Patrick meets Mandi the tapir, an orphan who's a real handful. Surrogate mum Rodolfo wants to introduce Mandi to a family of tapirs that live in his rescue centre, but first she needs to develop her wild side
