- Summary
- Rachel Johnson, sister of London mayor Boris Johnson, is a novelist and columnist whose books such as Notting Hell and Shire Hell chronicle the world of upper middle class families. She sends her own children to private schools with the quality state comprehensive Holland Park School on her doorstep. We ve challenged Rachel to go into the school and teach a class in journalism. She is surprised and delighted by the high standard of literacy and knowledge of the pupils who engage her lively debate about newspapers and magazines. For the pupils, it is an eye opening experience to hear how their feelings and those of their parents can be manipulated by the media in their choice of words and pictures. Rachel brings out two gigantic scrap books containing all her published work and her rejection letters in order to give them a realistic picture of how competitive a career in journalism can prove to be
